Spirit of Grace provides two ways to observe Ash Wednesday, which falls this year on February 14.

Once again, we will offer drive-through “Ashes to Go!” Pull up in front of the church from 7:30-9:00 am or 4:00-6:00 pm to receive ashes on your forehead. Our Ash Wednesday service, including Holy Communion, will be offered at 7:00 pm.

A cross of ashes on Ash Wednesday is a ritual reminding us that we are mortal and return to dust one day. It also reminds us we have been saved by God through Jesus Christ to have hope in the midst of a finite life. You do not need to be Christian to receive ashes.  Lent is a time of renewal and refreshment in the Christian church. It is a season lasting forty days and ends on Easter Sunday.
