Holy Week

with No Comments

We begin Holy Week with Palm Sunday—Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem for the Passover celebration. On Easter, we will celebrate His resurrection. But the meaning of Easter is lost without the rest of the story. We invite you to walk with Jesus and be present with Him at our many Holy Week activities and services.

Palm Sunday Worship — March 25, 10 am

Monday, March 26, 7 pm — Movie Night: Tyler Perry’s “The Passion”

Tuesday, March 27, 7 pm — A Multisensory Reflection on Jesus. As the first disciples experienced Him with all of their senses, we will engage with the person of Jesus using all of our senses. Through touch, hearing, smell, taste and sight we will reflect on Jesus.

Wednesday, March 28, 7 pm — “Reflections on Holy Week,” a discussion led by Fr. Steve.

Thursday, March 29, 7 pm — Maundy Thursday Service, when Jesus washes the feet of his disciples and shares with us the Lord’s Supper. Foot washing is traditionally part of this service, but you may opt for hand washing.

Good Friday, March 30 — Two services:

  • Worship & Witness at noon.
  • Tenebrae Service, 7 pm. A service of shadows, in which the story of the last hours of Jesus’ life is read, interspersed with hymns.  As the service progresses, candles are extinguished to show the ending of Jesus’ life. The service ends in silence with the loud sound symbolizing the closing of the tomb.
